Making Filming Easy for Production and Crew — L.A. Castle Studios

At L.A. Castle Studios, we believe in valuing, encouraging, and protecting the human capital and resources available for TV & film productions. That’s why we’re always adjusting and improving our Unreal Engine technology to maximize the creative potential and comfort of the crews that work on productions here.

Here’s an example of what we mean. Imagine a line producer is tasked with arranging principal talent and a large number of extras for a scene that takes place in an airport. On a traditional set, this producer would be normally required to spend 80% of their time arranging and caring for the extras on set, because they are many, and 20% of their time arranging and caring for principal talent, because they’re fewer in number. However, ideally, the line producer would spending 80 percent of their time working with and for principal talent, as these the talent who will *make* the scene and only 20% on everyone else. On the L.A. Castle Studios airport set, for example, we’ve included hundreds of digital extras, who exist to fill out the scene and look fantastic. These extras require no paperwork, no catering, no extra expense, and no time. This frees line producers to focus on what matters, in this case that’s principal talent, and maybe a half dozen extras. The resources of time and energy available from line producers are protected and utilized where they matter most, and the production, of course, will look amazing.

Valuing the resources given by line producers is just one example. The same value principals apply to directors, set decorators, lighting technicians, audio engineers, and everyone else on set.
